First Edition Books: Is it So Hard To Know If it is a First Edition?

Old and antique books are fascinating to me. I especially like the
old/antique textbooks, and hymn books. So many of the old textbooks have
been updated for current teaching, so it is just amusing to see what kids
were being taught a hundred years ago!! I come across a lot of German and
other Germanic language Hymnals.

The illustrations in these books are also great! I love the beautiful
colors in the front pages of some of the old novels and hymnals. I have
gone to http://www.Babelfish.com to get translations for some of the
Non-English titles when I can read the letters, getting past the archaic
font that is sometimes used in the antique typesetting process. Here is a
